Maxey PTO General Meeting
March 10, 2008
Principal’s Report: Mr. Decker welcomed everyone and thanked all for coming. Amy Kozak and Sean Bailey were introduced and the Backpack for Kids Program was explained. Backpack Extra Mile Walk will be at East High School April 26th. This supports the food bank and 100% of the proceeds go to the food bank. This is a wonderful program which supports children going without food, sometimes all weekend long, right here is the Lincoln area.
Mr. Decker introduced Pam Dinneen, counselor from Lux Middle School. Ms. Dinneen gave a presentation on making the middle school transition easier.
Teacher’s Report: Teachers were introduced by Mr. Tebo. Thank you to the staff appreciation committee for the wonderful food provided during conferences.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes from the January 7, 2008 meeting are available on the web site. Thank you notes were received from the staff for meals provided during conferences, and from Mindy Pinkleman and Krissy Lassek for baby gifts.
Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer could not be at this meeting. The information will be e-mailed.
President’s Report: We need to form a nominations committee for next years PTO board. Fundraising opportunities have been presented and discussed. Sherwin Williams, Neighbor to Neighbor, and School Mall an online shopping discount offer. These fundraisers would be done in the fall.
Committee Reports:
5th grade fundraising: The last McDonald’s night brought in around $800.00. The 5th grade BBQ is coming up March 13th. McDonald’s donated items for the BBQ. We will be selling Arch Cards for the 5th grade trip.
Science Fair: 117 students signed up and we sold 100 boards. There are still boards available if anyone needs one. If anyone can help set up the science fair Wednesday at 4:30 it would be appreciated. There are goody bags for all the kids involved in the science fair.
Book Exchange: The book exchange went well. All left over books were donated to Cedars and homeless shelter.
The MAX: A letter will go home this Wednesday explaining the MAX and how you can help. Invitations go home in next Wednesday’s folders.
Respectively submitted,
Christa O’Dell
