Welcome and Introductions
Jon Elsick welcomed everyone and introduced tonight’s guests. Mona Manley, Principal of Clinton Elementary and Jeff Vercellino, Principal of Hartley Elementary, came to thank Maxey PTO and families for the outpouring of generosity shown to their schools. Thank you letters were received from the children.
Both Kevin Keller and Lanny Boswell spoke. Each candidate provided background and information regarding their campaign for School Board Representative.
Principal's Report
Tracy Peterson spoke on behalf of Mr. Decker. Accreditation is coming up March 16. Maxey will be measured on 7 standards. It is believed continued accreditation will be achieved. The students are all aware that extra people will be in the building looking around on that date. Numerous complaints have come in to the office regarding traffic flow. This will again be addressed in the Maxey Messenger in hopes all will follow the established rules for everyone’s safety. Mr. Decker was hospitalized over the weekend. He is home recovering and doing much better.
Teacher's Report
Mrs. Gruhl on behalf of the teachers; a big thank you for the delicious meals provided by the PTO.
Secretary's Report
A thank you note was received from the teachers. The staff appreciates and thanks everyone for the meals provided by the PTO. Thank you from Mr. Kosmicki and family for the baby gift.
Treasurer's Report
No changes or updates to discuss.
President's Report
We missed some important agenda items due to January’s meeting cancelled because of the weather. Many events are coming up; March 19th McDonald’s Night 4:00 – 8:00, Spring Break March 23 – 27, The Max April 4 at Hillcrest County Club 6:30 – 10:00, April 8 Report Cards come home, May 7 Orchestra Concert for parents, and May 11 last PTO meeting of the year.
Old Business
Outdoor education plan is on hold. The amount we have budgeted for the outdoor education plan is about half of what the actual bid came in for. More discussion and information is needed before we can proceed. We remain hopeful that this plan will be carried out. Information is being sent out requesting volunteers to form the outdoor education committee.
New Business
Per information left by The MAX chair Jen Graff; plans are coming along for our adult fundraiser, “Maxico”, coming up soon on April 4. We will have both live and silent auctions, a $500 gas card raffle, and door prizes. The 5th grade art projects are finished however some were damaged and will have to be redone. Currently, there are 75 attending and 50 donations. We need your help; donations can be dropped off at the office. Please send your RSVP’s or they can be dropped off in the office. Thank you to the families who donated to the dollar drive. We ended up with around $200 which will purchase a live auction item from the kids. Only 3 weeks left. Thank you for your support!
We are forming a nomination committee for 2009-2010 executive board candidates.
5th grade BBQ went very well. No glitches, everything ran very smooth. The BBQ made around $1700 after expenses.
A new laminator will be ordered.
Respectfully submitted,
Christa O'Dell
